Matthew 20:17-19 (ESV) “17 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, 18 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death 19 and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”
Many times when aspects of our lives spiral out of our control we wonder if anyone has control at all. The Christian knows that God’s sovereign fingerprints are all over every aspect of our lives, but sometimes we don’t feel it. When feelings, faith, circumstance and knowledge collide like a car wreak the Christian must refresh his faith in God by going back to the headwaters of trust. The refreshing headwater of Christian faith is the truth that Jesus not only died in our place for the forgiveness of sins, but that He saw it coming from the beginning of time and still walked the dusty road to His death in Jerusalem. His doom, our second chance. He did that. Trust Him.
